Eliot Quartett

April 2014: The magnolia is in bloom. The world-famous Fine Arts Quartet will perform in the DAKB House together with the Russian pianist Anastasia Injushina. In addition to Dvorak's beautiful quintet, they also play from Franz Schubert's ‘ Der Tod und das Mädchen’. Cellist Robert Cohen dedicates the work to the late Dini Adams and her husband Kees. The DAKB House is officially opened as an House of Art in Utrecht by councilor Gilbert Isabella. Meanwhile, out of our hearing, 400 km further southeast, an ensemble is founded: Four young musicians from as many corners of the world who find each other in the passion of a string quartet. The Eliot Quartett was born in Frankfurt.
April 2019: The magnolia in bloom again. The fantastic Pavel Haas Quartet performs in the DAKB house. The sixty-strong audience was in ecstasy, according to national Radio4 the next day. And the Dutch flutist Ronald Snijders, who happened to be present, explains: ‘ You can't get any closer. The violinist cannot put the bow in your ear and you cannot sit on the stage yourself. ‘The most beautiful experience of my life when listening to a string Quartet.’
August 2023: A special story appears in the Volkskrant about the writer Maxim Osipov. And in that article he mentions that his daughter plays in the Eliot Quartet.
September 2023: The DAKB house contacts the leader of the group, Alexander Sachs: Whether they see a possibility of giving two concerts in October at the DAKB-huis. And so you can listen to this beautiful, energetic quartet on the 28th and 29th. In the ten years of their existence they have made their mark: The musical journey took them to various competitions around the world: Second prizes at the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg and at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. In Katowice, Poland, the Eliot Quartett received first prize and special prize for the best interpretation of a work by Karol Szymanowski in the first edition of the competition named after him. The Eliot Quartet is a welcome guest in Frankfurt at the Alte Oper, the Polytechnische Gesellschafft concert series, the Schumann Society, the Holzhausenschlösschen where it had the honor of giving six concerts as Artist in Residence with guests Boris Brovtsyn, Annika Treutler, Laura Ruiz Ferreres, Torleif Thedéen and Maxim Rysanov in 2019.
Furthermore, the quartet has performed at well-known festivals and concert series such as the Bachfest in Leipzig, The Kasseler Musiktagen, the Mozartfest Würzburg, the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, the Festival Musica Sur in Spain, the Styriarte in Graz, the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Schubertiade The Eliot Quartett studied with many renowned chamber music pedagogues in Germany and Spain and also collaborates with the renowned pianist Alfred Brendel and with the Belcea Quartet.
Several recordings have been released on Genuine classics.
The quartet is named after the great poet T.S. Eliot whose well-known work "Four Quartets" found his inspiration in Beethoven's innovative last quartets.
